A practical training programme on Piggery Farming was conducted on 13th May 2026, for the 3BA Piggery (VTC) students as part of the practical activities recommended by North-Eastern Hill University. The programme aimed to enhance the students’ practical knowledge and skills in scientific piggery management and modern farming practices.
The training session was led by Dr. Sengkan K. Marak, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Officer Williamnagar, who served as the resource person for the programme. During the session, he shared valuable insights on pig rearing techniques, feeding management, housing systems, disease prevention, vaccination, and the economic importance of piggery farming in rural livelihoods.
The resource person emphasized scientific methods of pig farming, proper hygiene, and sustainable management practices to improve productivity and income generation. The students actively participated in the interaction and practical discussions, making the programme informative and beneficial.
The training concluded successfully with active participation from both students and faculty members, providing meaningful exposure and practical understanding in the field of piggery farming.
