The Loyola College hosted an Enterprise Development Programme (EDP) aimed at promoting entrepreneurial mindset among its students on Saturday. The programme was conducted by Ajit Singh, the Founder of Anand Learning & Development Pvt Ltd and Anand Foundation for Innovation and Social Change.
Singh, a Kargil war veteran turned entrepreneur, has dedicated his efforts to training youth for a better livelihood and improved standard of living. Through his organisation, he has initiated several projects in Meghalaya’s Rongara Block, Chokpot Block, Zikzak Block, and Bhoirymbong Block, aimed at developing the capacity and skills of locals. These projects also create a network of employers and job seekers
One such project is ‘A’Bani,’ which connects local cultivators to the market, ensuring fresh farm products do not go to waste due to a lack of markets and that farmers are not exploited. The project includes a vegetable processing unit in Rongara Block, a co-operative society, a fishery unit in RiBhoi, as well as a hatchery.
Loyola College’s Unit of EDP has expressed interest in collaborating with the Anand Foundation to promote entrepreneurship and train students in livelihood activities. The interaction with Ajit Singh was to take forward the collaboration in the form of internships to provide students with hands-on training.
The event was a success, with many students expressing interest in participating in the initiative. Loyola College hopes that this programme will inspire students to pursue entrepreneurship and contribute positively to society.
